Students should select one or two central topics discussed during the semester and write about how the topic(s) is relevant to you and your life.  For example, for the chapter on prejudice, you might write about a time you directly or indirectly experienced some form of prejudice. Alternatively, you could analyze a television commercial with an eye toward the material covering the use of persuasion to increase compliance.  Remember, this assignment is intended to help you recognize how the material covered in class is personally relevant, as well as to encourage you to think critically about the concepts presented instead of passively accepting them as truths.  Thus it is acceptable (and commendable) to include in your paper a discussion of the reasons why you agree/disagree with what the author is saying.  To reiterate, each paper must have the following two components: a review (including proper citation) of the concept from the text to be discussed; and second, your thoughts/feelings on this topic and a discussion of how it applies to your life including whether you agree/disagree with what the author has said.

Whether in a scholarly or practitioner setting, good research and data analysis should have the benefit of peer feedback. For this Discussion, you will perform an article critique on ANOVA testing. Be sure and remember that the goal is to obtain constructive feedback to improve the research and its interpretation, so please view this as an opportunity to learn from one another.

To prepare for this Discussion:

· Review the Learning Resources and the media programs related to ANOVA testing.

· Search for and select a quantitative article specific to your discipline and related to ANOVA testing. Write a 3- to 5-paragraphs critique of the article. In your critique, include responses to the following:

2. Why did the authors use ANOVA test?

3. Do you think it’s the most appropriate choice? Why or why not?

4. Did the authors display the data?

5. Do the results stand alone? Why or why not?

6. Did the authors report effect size? If yes, is this meaningful?

Qualitative Research Critique

Prior to beginning work on this assignment, review the assigned readings and the instructor guidance for the week, read the Ashford Writing Center resource Writing an Article Critique (Links to an external site.), and view the Ashford University Library tutorial How to Read a Scholarly Article (Links to an external site.). Your instructor will post an announcement with the reference for the qualitative research study to be critiqued in this assignment. After reading the posted study, use the Qualitative Research Critique Template to compose and organize your assignment.

In your paper,

• Summarize the research question, methods, and findings of the assigned qualitative study.
• Evaluate the appropriateness of the research methods and analytical approaches used in the study. Support the position with evidence cited from the textbook and at least one other scholarly source about the research design or method.
• Analyze ethical issues pertaining to how the study was carried out.
• Critique the strengths, weaknesses, and limitations of the study.
• Recommend a research question and methods for a follow-up study on the topic.
• Utilize the provided template with section headings.

Readers pick out the main idea from what they read, which is usually the thesis sentence of the writer. This week, you continue practicing writing thesis sentences and sentence outlines.

By Day 7

• Locate one additional article related to one of this week’s case study topics, other than the one you used in your Discussion.
• Complete the Source Quality Rating Document found in the Week 2 Learning Resources.
• Determine the main idea of the article.
• After you have determined the main idea of the article, craft your own thesis in response to the article’s main idea. You may create a thesis statement which agrees with the article’s main idea, or you may create a thesis statement which disagrees with the article’s main idea.
• Once you have created your own thesis statement, develop a sentence outline which supports your thesis.
• There is an example Week 1 Assignment 2 document, located in the Week 1 Learning Resources. You may also use this example for Week 2 Assignment 2.
•  Be sure to provide attribution, using APA formatting, for any sources used.
•  Create one document that includes:
